Grade: B. The episode is hurt by its placement in the season, as it would have fit better a week or two ago. Here’s hoping it’s not the final time we see them together. We’ll likely never get a full-on relationship due to this being a Disney XD show, but it’s crystal clear these two are, or at least were, more than friends. There are some fine action scenes (Sabine laments the lack of a jetpack, while Kanan and Ezra team up to launch her Wolverine-style) that are ultimately inconsequential, if nothing else because Pablo Hidalgo confirmed this episode is the last we’ll see of the non-Force users this season, clearing the table for the important stuff in the finale.Īrguably the best part of “The Mystery of Chopper Base” is clarity when it comes to Hera and Kanan. The crew goes to save Rex, with Hera intentionally splitting Kanan and Ezra from Sabine, Zeb and herself because they have to face the prospect that the Jedi won’t come back from their faceoff with the Inquisitors. While getting accustomed to their new base, a redshirt who’s completely dropped from the plot, and, later on, Rex are abducted by massive spiders (with a design, as many things in this show, inspired by Ralph McQuarrie). You may have noticed that I haven’t discussed the actual plot for the episode, and that’s because, frankly, it’s not terribly interesting or important. #RebelsRecon has answers to The Mystery of Chopper Base & a preview of next week's #StarWarsRebels season finale!
